Secretary General, Roya, made a trip to Gondomar in the north of Portugal, an area known for its long tradition of manufacturing jewellery. The visit was a part of the Sustainability initiative (SI) CLS initiated earlier this year with the aim to shed light on Sustainability in various forms.
During this trip, CLS had the pleasure to visit two Portuguese jewellery manufacturers that demonstrated sustainable, beautiful and excellent craftmanship.
Galeiras and J. Monteiro de Sousa & Filhos, Lda are family run entities that have great passion for their craft since many generations back. Today they produce for Portuguese as well as for international clients. Note that every piece is made and finished by hand in their factories by Portuguese craftsmen, a skill that is very hard to find these day as Pedro Sousa point out!
CLS look forward deepening our collaboration and facilitate Swedish inquiries regarding production in Portugal with them both.
