NORDIC Kidney Patient Association representatives visited Portugal

13 August 2024

On July 1st-4th the CLS strategic partner, Diaverum Portugal, hosted a delegation of Nordic representatives from the Kidney Patient Association, when they visited Portugal. Marta Freitas Olim, Social Work Manager and Head of Social Responsibility at Diavarum Portugal, provided us with a summary of the pleasant visit.

As part of our mission to provide care to people with kidney disease, Diaverum and its team are fully committed to continuously improving the quality of life of all the people who undergo treatment with us. Travelling and holidays are no exception.

The possibility of being in other contexts with different routines, spending time with their family and friends is a crucial aspect in everyone's lives, especially for those who undergo a treatment. With the mission of doing more and better for the patients, Diaverum has designed an ambitious program for those who visit us, focused on providing the best holiday experience ever.

Every year we receive around 1400 dialysis patients on vacation. In order to improve their experience we have created more than 40 partnerships with discounts on hotels, excursions and other leisure activities in twelve locations where we have clinics, so that holidays become even more special and remain forever as good memories.

To increase the awareness of this program, we welcomed representatives of the Kidney Patients' Associations from Sweden, Finland and Norway to Portugal, and presented to them magnificent cities such as Cascais, Sintra, Lisbon, Figueira da Foz, Aveiro and Porto, where Diaverum is present.

This meeting aimed to promote not only dialysis on vacation, but to show Portugal's full potential and, above all, how we can improve the vacation experience of people with chronic kidney disease that visit us, with an attractive, diverse and innovative program, adjusted to the needs of each one of them. We are thus reinforcing Portugal's presence in the holiday options of people on dialysis, ensuring excellent clinical care, an interdisciplinary approach to coordinated care and our culture of true care.

We believe that this visit was a success: everyone involved enjoyed our beautiful landscapes, our fabulous cuisine and the quality of our care and infrastructure. They promised to come back soon! We will welcome them with open arms!
