We proudly introduce our latest member to join the CLS community Markus Friberg Advisory. A communication consultancy firm with an impressive resume. We met up with Markus Friberg to hear more about him and his company.
Despite the relatively young age of 41 years old, Markus Friberg has 18 years long experience in communications and public relations. For the past 7 years, he has been working as the Vice President of Media Relations at Vattenfall, one of the largest Energy companies in Europe. Before that Markus held a position as a Press Secretary to the Swedish Prime Minister, the Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy and was the Head of Media Relations at Svensk Handel. Last summer he started his own communication consultancy firm, Markus Friberg Advisory. A few months later he decided to leave Sweden, to try his luck in Lisbon.
First of all, we want to hear more about Markus Friberg Advisory. What do you do?
- As a Senior Communications Advisor I work in the intersection of communications, business strategy, leadership and sustainability. I help companies to accelerate their sustainability communication to position themselves as leaders within the green transition. I provide PR support, media trainings and advise in the event of a crisis. I also take on interim assignments and can help structure a communications department and act as an external sounding board for leaders.
What made you move to Portugal?
- Lisbon has been on my radar for a long time. Portuguese hospitality makes it easy to feel at home. I enjoy the exceptional quality of life, pleasant climate, the closeness to nature and the ocean, the food, the wine, and a lot more that Portugal has to offer. From a business perspective my main target group is still companies operating in Sweden, therefore I am visiting Stockholm on a regular basis.
What kind of clients do you work with?
- Companies in the industry sector focusing on driving the green transition, but not only. Currently, I am helping a multinational Swedish governmental company. Now I am looking forward to helping Swedish companies in Portugal, as well as Portuguese companies interested in the Scandinavian market.
