On March 24th, the CLS held its annual General Assembly Meeting in a hybrid format, online and at the lovely offices of Volvo Cars Portugal. It was election year for our Social Bodies, as well as we shared the strategy for our next triennial.
Susanne Hägglund, Managing Director at Volvo Cars Portugal welcomed our members to the beautiful venues of Volvo Cars. Susanne shared Volvo´s history and mission, the business relationship between Sweden and Portugal and the Team Sweden collaboration.
At the second call, the President of the General Assembly, Ambassador Bengt Lundborg, opened the General Assembly Meeting and greeted all participants welcome. This was followed by a short presentation from the Ambassador of Sweden to Portugal, Elisabeth Eklund, upon the current agenda of the Embassy, cooperation between the Embassy and the CLS and the added value of the cooperation of Team Sweden.
The General Assembly Meeting then continued with a presentation made by the Chairwoman & President of the CLS Board of Directors, Jennifer Ekström who shared the CLS Annual Report for 2022. A year with focus on strengthening the collaboration with corporate members, further collaboration between Team Sweden, and, growing the CLS engagement within and beyond its community. We can all be proud of how the CLS has grown and been tranforming during the last years.
Carlos Oliveira, Treasurer of the CLS, gave a statement of the financial situation which showed that the Chamber has had an all-time record revenue in 2022, where we also faced a slightly more negative result than expected.
After the presentations, the voting’s commenced where the following items were approved:
Ambassador Bengt Lundborg, President for the General Assembly, as well as Michael Zell, Vice-President of the General Assembly were greatly thanked for their respective contributions the last decate to the CLS as they are now residing from their positions.
Susanne Hägglund, Managing Director at Volvo Cars Portugal, was approved and much welcomed as new President of the General Assembly.
Furthermore, Caroline Falkhorn and Ruí Matias da Silva were dearly thanked for their many years of contributions as part of the CLS Board of Directors. Marcus Nordquist, CEO at QueensLab, as well as Paulo Coelho, Managing Director Portugal and Latin America at Anticimex, were approved and much welcomed as new Members of the Board of Directors.
We are also happy to share that Samira Grylin-Allalou, Market Area Director at Business Sweden was approved and warm welcomed as Honorary Board Member of CLS Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors has taken the decision to not change the current conditions of the existing Memberships and in line with what we already offer today, add a Strategic Partner option for our corporate members. This will include:

Finally, the President of the General Assembly, Ambassador Bengt Lundborg closed the General Assembly Meeting 2023 and all the guests present at Volvo Cars enjoyed some delicious pastries over a morning networking.
