History

Created initially in 1982, the Swedish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (Câmara de Comercio Luso-Sueca - CLS) is a non-profit organization that serves as a platform for networking between businesses and individuals of both countries. Connecting businesses and people to foster economic, cultural, and social development resulting in new opportunities is at the heart of all activities of CLS.

1982

Founded as an association by Swedish companies present in Portugal.

1987

Transformed into Chamber of Commerce inaugurated by the Swedish Minister of Commerce and the Portuguese Secretary of State.

1989

Management agreement between STC (Swedish Trade Council) and CLS.

1995

Official representative of the STC (Swedish Trade Council) in Portugal.

2000

From the 1st of July, CLS and STC are two separate organisations working in the same office premises where STC is the responsible entity.

The CLS is directed by a Board and the continuous work at the secretariat is executed by a full-time Manager, Mrs. Lena Önnesjö Horta Lobo.

2012

New Secretary General is appointed, Mr. Christopher Rosengren.

The CLS and STC offices are moved to the heart of Chiado, Lisbon. 

2015

New Secretary General is appointed, Ms. Caroline Falkhorn. 

2018

February: New Secretray General is appointed, Ms. Elin Forzelius. 

March: CLS moves the offices into the Embassy of Sweden, at Rua Miguel Lupi, Lisbon

September: CLS launches the new organisation, services and website 

2019

April: New President is elected, Ms. Jennifer Ekström.

Membership for start-ups is introduced.

September: New Secretary General is appointed, Mr. Niklas Knutsson.

2020

January: Trainee agreement with Lund University in Sweden - First trainee for CLS appointed; Communication Management Trainee Ms. Sanne Persson 

February: MoU signed for cooperation between CLS and FCT NOVA

March: Board Members increased from 11 to 13
New conditions for CLS membership introduced

August: New Secretary General is appointed, Ms. Roya Moghaddas

2021

January: New trainee at CLS is appointed, Ms. Sofie Jacobsson

October: New trainee at CLS is appointed, Ms. Cristina da Costa Ferreira

2022

January: New trainee at CLS is appointed, Guilli Jakobsson

August: New trainee at CLS is appointed for 1 year, Charlotta Mohlén

September: CLS celebrates 40 years at the ship Götheborg of Sweden during its visit in Lisbon, with presence from leading companies from the Swedish-Portuguese community, as well as Team Sweden Portugal and Portuguese Secretary of State for Internationalization

September: CLS moves into our new offices at Ninho, in Lisbon

2023

March: new Strategic partner membership conditions introduced
New Social Bodies elected for triennial 2023-2025

August: New trainee at CLS is appointed for 1 year, Oskar Simryd

November: New Secretary General is appointed, Ms. Charlotta Mohlén

2024 

March: New Vice-President of General Assembly and New Board Member appointed. 

September: New trainee at CLS is appointed for 1 year, Sepehr Khanmohammadi
